From Virtual Village to Living Sanctuary
My Reflection Matters began as a virtual village — a healing-centered learning community for families, educators, and self-directed learners seeking to move beyond colonial models of education and return to something more whole, intuitive, and liberatory.
Over time, this work expanded. My own healing journey led me deeper into intuition, ancestral remembrance, spiritual practice, and relationship with the land. Eventually, it became clear that the work was no longer asking to live only online. It was asking to be grounded — physically, spiritually, and communally — in a place where people could gather, heal, remember, and renew.
While the virtual My Reflection Matters Village has come to a close, its spirit continues here in Boriké/Puerto Rico, through a living sanctuary for healing experiences, intimate retreats, and soul-led gatherings.

If you are a healer, retreat leader, guide, or facilitator seeking a space that feels less like a rental or staged resort and more like a living, breathing sanctuary, this place may be for you.
This is not a generic property for hosting just anything. It is a space for intentional gathering — where the land itself becomes part of the experience, and where stillness, beauty, and presence support the kind of transformation that cannot be rushed or manufactured.
This sanctuary was created with the knowing that the world is asking something different of us right now. So many people are holding so much. And the leaders guiding others through healing, remembrance, rest, reflection, and renewal need spaces that can truly hold that depth.
This is for those who are not simply looking for a beautiful backdrop, but for a place that can support meaningful transformation.

WHAT MAKES THIS PLACE DIFFERENT?
Family Owned, Boricua -Led In Reciprocity with Community
Boriké/Puerto Rico is living through real pressures of displacement, rising housing costs, and outside investment that too often leaves local communities carrying the weight of change.
In that context, it matters deeply to me that this land remain Boricua-held and rooted in a model of stewardship that gives back to community.
This sanctuary is rooted in the belief that the land should not only be a place where people come to receive, but also a place where giving back is part of the experience.
A portion of retreat pricing is intentionally reinvested into local community. This includes creating reduced-rate access for local healers, facilitators, and community members to gather here as well.
Part of what your investment supports is a more reciprocal model—one that helps keep this space accessible, community-rooted, and in right relationship with the land.
If that matters to you, too, there is a good chance we are aligned.

The land is part of the experience
This is more than a place to stay. It is a place to exhale. A place where people can soften, reconnect, and hear themselves more clearly.
It holds intimate gatherings well
This sanctuary is ideal for smaller experiences that want to feel personal, grounded, and deeply cared for.
It invites a more rooted experience
Hosts who desire it may also be connected with trusted local chefs, healers, bodyworkers, and wellness practitioners so the experience is not only beautiful, but in relationship with the local community as well.
THE FEELING OF THE PLACE
Set in the mountains of Puerto Rico, this 5.5 acre sanctuary surrounded by tropical fruit trees offers calm, privacy, and natural beauty that invites people to slow down and return to what matters. The main house is a unique octogoan shape that was designed by a local engineer in the late 1970's and has withstood every major hurricane that has passed through the island since then. Entering the space feels like coming home to your airy, wooden, mountainsde cabin dressed in boho-Caribbean decor and artsy accessories hand made with love from local Boricua artisans.
There is something about being here that helps people release the noise. The open sky. The beauty of the land. The invitation to pause. The feeling of being held by something greater than the schedule.
For the right host, this is not simply a venue. It is a co-facilitator.

WHY THIS LAND MATTERS TO ME
About Me
I’m Chemay Morales-James, a Nuyorican born in New York to two Boricua parents from the mountains of the island. My father’s hometown is just about 20 minutes from this sanctuary, which makes this journey deeply personal for me.
For me, this is about much more than stewarding a beautiful space. It is about coming home—to myself, to my ancestors, to my family’s homeland, and to the wisdom of the land that continues to guide me.
As an intuitive healer, facilitator, and space holder, I believe this sanctuary is part of my soul’s calling. It is a place where I share my own gifts, while also continuing to deepen them in relationship with the land, my Arawak/Taino and Afro-Caribbean ancestors, and the spiritual wisdom that lives here.
My hope is that this land becomes a place where others, too, can come home to themselves—a place where healing, remembrance, and meaningful transformation are held not only by the people gathered here, but by the land and the ancestors who walk with it.
A note on stewardship and timing
As this sanctuary moves through a transition in stewardship, I want to be transparent that I am currently in the process of purchasing the property.
With the owner’s full support and permission, I am beginning to accept advance retreat bookings as we move through that process.
These early bookings help support not only future reservations, but also the thoughtful preparation of the space for the 2027–2028 season, including repairs, fresh paint, and additional sleeping options to better serve retreat hosts and their guests.
I share this in the spirit of transparency, trust, and care for those considering gathering here.
An evolving vision for the land
This sanctuary is part of a larger vision for the land itself.
In partnership with local farmers and medicine workers, I hope to cultivate a medicinal garden and small farm that can nourish retreats, gatherings, and community events through fresh, farm-to-table meals and land-based learning.
My intention is for this finca to be a place where local healers, farmers, and facilitators can offer workshops, share their gifts, and remain connected to the life of the land—while also welcoming aligned retreat hosts from beyond the local community whose presence helps sustain and support its continued evolution.
